There are some similarities in the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technologies. Both of them have their purposes in offices, homes and even when you travel. They can be helpful when you set up networks, printing or transferring presentation in your office as well as transferring files from your PDA to your computers. Bluetooth can be found in many different products such as a phone, printer, modem and headsets. The Bluetooth is great for situations when you need two and sometimes more devices in the same area as each other and it doesn’t require a huge amount bandwidth at all.
Bluetooth is most commonly used with such products as phones, hand held computing devices and is commonly used also with PDA’s and file transfers. Wi-Fi is more of an analog as oppose to the traditional Ethernet cards and Wi-Fi does require configuration to set up a shared resource and it does transmit files and set up audio links such as headphones and hands free instruments. With Bluetooth devices you don’t have to worry about network addresses and permissions.
Wi-Fi uses the same frequencies as the Bluetooth but it uses a higher power of consumption that results in a stronger connection. Wi-Fi is sometimes called the wireless Ethernet card. It is not a literal name just a nickname of sorts. Wi-Fi does have a great strength and some weak spots. It does require a better setup but overall it is better suited for operating a full scale network, it has a faster connection and a better base station range and it is said to have better security protection than the Bluetooth.
